The 9 Best Baby Nail Clippers – Reviews 2019

Whether you’ve just had a child or you’ve been a parent for a few months now the value of a convenient pair of baby nail clippers can’t be understated. Babies feet are generally more sensitive than adult feet due to the lack of callusing around the nail bed. This means that it’s very easy to unintentionally hurt your baby when you try cutting their nails if you’re not using nail clippers designed for babies feet. In this buying guide, we’ll be taking a look at the best baby nail clippers available in 2017 that you can currently buy on Amazon.

9. The First Years American Red Cross Deluxe Nail Clipper

The First Years American Red Cross Deluxe Nail Clipper is currently priced at $ on Amazon. I’ve tried all the nail clippers on this list and this one has its own pros and cons. I was initially really excited about the included magnifying glass on this baby clipper but I’m sad to say that it’s not very useful.

It’s made out of a cheap and easily scratchable piece of plastic and it gets fogged up when you get close and try to focus on your baby’s nails. It doesn’t even really magnify all that well so it’s kind of a non-feature. Also, one complaint that I have is that there’s no guard on the nail clippers so if you’re not paying attention you could easily cut your baby’s skin very quickly and by accident. This to me is an essential feature but for some people, they like not having a guard because it gives them better control.

This nail clipper is great if you need something cheap and well built because it feels very sturdy. My friend recommended this one to me and he complained that the pins kept falling out but I hadn’t experienced that when I used this. I decided to look at other nail clippers for my baby solely because I had a little more of a budget to spend and while these were alright and worked well I felt like there were better options even if they cost a little more.

8. Piyo Piyo Baby Nail Scissors

My pediatrician actually recommended these nail scissors to me because he mentioned that accidents are a lot more common with baby nail clippers than they are with a pair of baby scissors. I was a little apprehensive at first because I have never used scissors to cut my own nails so I wasn’t sure exactly how well it was going to go. What made me want to try these was when I had accidentally cut my baby’s finger when trying to cut his nails with clippers so I decided to give it a chance.

These scissors a little more expensive compared to your typical nail clippers coming in at $ on Amazon. I have to say though that when I used them there were no unique features or anything but these are just all around a great solution to cut your child’s nails. I found them to be easy to use and the cutting motion was very smooth so it wasn’t as abrasive as I imagined. One thing that’s nice about these scissors is that they’re plastic on the outside so you don’t have to risk cutting your child with them and they come with a protective case so you can safely put them away. Overall if you’re a fan of scissors instead of clippers I’d recommend these as a great option although they’re a little pricey in my opinion.

7. Genuine No-mess Nail Clipper with Catcher

The No-Mes Nail Clipper is a great nail clipper. I thought it was really easy to use and I thought the nail catcher feature was great. These are some of the more costly nail clippers you can buy coming in at $$ but they are absolutely worth it in my opinion.

They’re very well built and you can feel the quality in all the components.

The nail catcher works really well because it’s quite big and happens to catch most of the clippings somehow. I do have to say that it doesn’t catch all the nails but it works well enough. I don’t really have a lot to say about these clippers because they’re pretty typical beyond the nail catcher, although for being near $$ you expect these to be well built and easy to use nail clippers.

6. ISirius Nail Clipper Set

The ISirius Nail Clipper set is a great value for the money coming with 3 different nail clippers for a great price of $$. One of my favorite things about this nail clipper set is that it comes with a faux leather case that makes traveling convenient. I mainly use these nail clippers as my travel set and that’s what I’d recommend them for.

The clippers themselves feel pretty sturdy but the largest set seems too big for even a baby’s toes so I hardly ever use it. Another great addition to this nail clipper set is the additional tools for grooming that it comes with.

There are tools to pick dirt out of the nails with but I really only use the metal nail file since my baby doesn’t mind baths so it’s easy to keep his nails clean.

I would recommend this nail clipper set as a travel set but there are better individual nail clippers that are more comfortable to use despite costing a little more than this set.

5. Fridababy NailFrida the SnipperClipper Set

The Fridababy Nailfrida Set is certainly interesting looking and is currently $$ on Amazon so it’s pretty competitive compared to other nail clipper sets on the market.

Right off the bat what’s interesting to note about this clipper set is that it doesn’t come with a carrying case which is weird considering even cheaper sets often come with carrying cases but all the tools are fairly small so they’d fit into a pouch if you wanted to use a makeshift solution. The clippers themselves work really well and the gradual cutter makes it easy to ensure that you aren’t clipping too close to your baby’s skin.

I thought the nail file was a little weird to use since it’s S-shaped but it’s actually quite ergonomic when you get used to it but I’d still prefer a standard nail file as that’s just my preference. This a great set of clippers if you’re looking for an ergonomic design.

4.  Samro Baby Nail Clipper Set

This nail clipper set is the most complete set I’ve ever seen for a baby and it’s only slightly more expensive than other sets on this list coming in at $$ on Amazon. My wife received these as a baby shower gift but we forgot about them until we were doing some cleaning so I figured I’d try them out and I have to say this set comes with almost every tool you can imagine to cut your baby’s nails.

This clipper set includes a nail clipper, a nose trimmer, and a pair of cutting scissors. The clippers themselves are alright, I don’t like the plastic because you have to readjust your hand after every trim because the handle is smooth. The scissors weren’t very popular with me for reasons I mentioned earlier but my wife liked them because she thought they were small enough to accurately cut a baby’s nails.

The nose trimmer was interesting because we haven’t had that problem with our baby but I’m sure if your baby has longer hairs then that’s a tool you’d use more often. This is the only set I’ve ever seen and used that has included a nose trimmer so that’s something to consider when you’re looking for a nail clipper set.

3. Mommy’s Helper Nursery Essentials

I added this one to the list because despite being a baby caring set more so than a nail clipper set the nail clipper that it includes is fantastic, it has a patterned handle so your finger doesn’t slip when you’re using it and in addition to the nail clipper it includes a myriad of tools to help keep your baby happy including a spoon, comb, brush, and thermometer.

This is truly one of the last sets you’ll ever need to keep your baby well taken care of and the only complaint that I really have is the high cost. This is the most expensive care set that will be on this list coming in at about $$ but all the tools and additions are very well built and I could imagine using this set for our next child. Another minor complaint that I have with the set is that the case is somewhat hard to open it’s made of a rough plastic so all the tools are going to be secure but I prefer to keep the tools in a separate bag because sometimes I had problems opening the case.

2. Summer Infant Complete Nursery Care Kit

This is by far and away my favorite set on this list, I really have nothing but great things to say. The whole set includes pretty much every tool that you’d need to take care of your child including cutlery, cleaning tools, and medical equipment in case of emergencies. This set of tools is frankly a great value for the money, you can currently have this whole set for $$ on Amazon.

I haven’t really used any of the medical equipment but I really like the included cutlery because it’s short and wide so it’s easy to pick up food. When it comes to the nail clipper and cleaning set I don’t really have any negatives besides the fact that the tools do feel a little bit cheaper than some of the other clipper sets mentioned in this article but they’ve held up well and haven’t broken despite how I feel about their quality when using them.

Overall I’d recommend these if you’re looking for an affordable option to use if you’re only gonna use them for a year or two.

1. Safety 1st Hospital’s Choice 25-Piece Deluxe Set

There could only be one and the Safety 1st Hospital’s Choice set takes the top spot on this list. I currently am using this set and I’m quite a fan because of how well-built everything is for the great price. You can currently by the set for $$ on Amazon right now. My biggest praise of this set is that everything just works well.

You don’t even really think about ways the tools could be made better because they simply do the job well and that’s probably one of the most underrated features of products like this. I will say that like many other sets this set utilizes more plastic than I would like but otherwise it’s great because the plastic doesn’t feel cheap.

I don’t really have any negatives to talk about with this set. I’d just recommend this set to everyone especially couples that are looking for a set of nail clippers to use in the future if you’ve planned for a larger family. If you’re only going to have one kid and you’re sure of it I’d recommend a cheaper set because you can get by with less long-term tools but otherwise if you’ve got a flexible budget and want a great set of tools anyways then take a look at these.

Types of Clippers

In this article, we took a look at nail clippers mostly. I’m personally a fan of nail clippers because that’s what I’ve always used and what my own parents recommended to me for our baby but I’ve heard from a lot of people including specialists that say nail clippers reduce the risk of accidental nicks and cuts.

Personally, I think you can buy a nice set of nail clippers with a nail guard and you don’t have to risk cutting your baby’s fingers but there are obviously people who would disagree. There’s no real difference in the results between clippers and scissors it’s simply a matter of preference so stick with what you feel comfortable with!

Conclusion

The most important thing about any baby nail clipper sets you buy is that you need to make sure you’re using a tool you’re comfortable with because that’s the easiest way to reduce the number of cuts and nicks when you’re cutting your baby’s nails. Another consideration is that you want to make sure you’re buying tools that are well built.

All the clipper sets on this list are well built to at least get you through raising one child but if you’re looking at other nail clipper sets you want to make sure that quality of materials is also high on your list of priorities because breaking during operation can lead to an injury for your child.
